Kokboru

Kokboru is the national game of Kyrgyzstan. The idea of dragging a dead goat around a polo field on horseback always sounded somewhat ridiculous to me until I saw a game. These are tough men on tough horses and it's a fantastic spectacle.

We were lucky enough to watch a game near Karakol on the shores of Lake Issy Kol.

It's a very close contact game and players are allowed to whip each others horses. When carrying the goat they hold their whips between their teeth.
